Comments about Akubra The Territory:

Here in South texas, where we have brutal summers and droughts, i wear this hat every day as sun protection. The wide brim makes it very useful as an all-purpose hat, which I wear in lieu of a Stetson cowboy hat. I have added a chin strap to mine, plus a better leather hat band, and an inside liner. I also had 3/4" cut off the outside because after awhile, I did not need such a wide brim, but I wore the full-sized brim for years. Mine has a deep dip front to back, it looks great. I never leave the house without it down here. I'd be at the mercy of the sun without it!

Comments about Akubra The Territory:

This is my third Akubra in twenty-five plus years, and now my favorite hat. I literally wore out my first hat (a mid-1980's "Drover" style I don't think they make anymore) and the other, the "Slouch" style, has a shorter brim.

Living at over 5,000 feet elevation in alpine conditions means lots of sun exposure with snow or rain—often in the same day. Traveling to the deserts here and in the Southwest means more sun and dry heat, so my hats are everyday-use outdoors hats for sun and weather protection. For this reason I chose to try The Territory for it's four-inch brim and slightly taller crown. The style is timeless, the sand (lighter) color does not get hot in the sun, and it's much more stylish than I expected. The vent holes are larger than seen on most fur-felt hats—which I think are mainly decorative—but on this hat I think they really work for ventilation.

It holds it's shape well after an initial steam shaping of the brim. I did replace the band, as I felt it was a bit lacking, but that's a small personal thing. The fit is spot on to the stated size, and it is immediately comfortable after one good wearing; really conformed to my head quickly.

Overall a five-star rating. You can't find a better rugged, good-looking, worry-free hat.

Comments about Akubra The Territory:

I agree with the other reviews but find that the brim is just too wide for my taste -- it offers excellent sun and rain protection but I find I keep hitting the brim against things, especially when I try to wear it in the car. Maybe I need more time to get used to it. I tried to wear it in the Caribbean, and found it just too hot in the humid tropics -- no doubt it's better in the arid heat of Australia, Arizona, or Araby. All in all, a nice hat, but not quite as comfortable as some others.

Comments about Akubra The Territory:

The hat: my 4th Akubra, this one mainly for sun protection for Melanoma (skin cancer) but prefer being mostly outdoors. If you need to cover up, might as well look good doing it. I've been looking at this Territory for a while, decided it needed me.

Styling: I like the Aussie look, and get compliments from my Colorado "cowboy" friends about my down-under headgear. If you're looking for a durable, wide brim, Akubra has the best. Hatband nice solid leather, embossed; glad Akubra finally puts their logo on the hatband. (Hatbands can lend a personal touch, from experience these are easily replaced.)

Fit: perfect, it feels a little stiff at the moment, but I know from experience with my other Akubras that this will soften nicely: not too firm, but not floppy.

Durability: I bought my first Akubra over 20 years ago, and know these hats hold up and will go the distance and still look great.

David Morgan: Definitely recommended, I'll be back. My first purchase with them, and a perfect, painless and FAST transaction: hat exactly as described, shipped immediately, complimentary hat pads are a nice seller touch. Great communication: timely confirmation and shipping updates, useful links, informative web site.

Service & Delivery comments:

Amazing delivery: ordered just days before Christmas and received the hat in plenty of time to wrap myself a present. Nice packaging, shipping box makes a great storage container.
